Problems with exams? That's about right then....It is disappointing but not surprising that police have been called in to investigate another exam leak after an unknown number of students had advance sight of part of a GCSE religious studies (RS) paper last month (May). It is the latest of a series of damaging security breaches to hit summer exams in recent years, with social media enabling cheats to disseminate leaked questions quickly and easily.

But why does it happen and why is one exam paper so important? For those of us who find extreme difficulty in undertaking exams (yours truly has a 1st class honours Degree, a PGCE and a Masters Distinction but still finds it difficult to do a basic level 2 exam) the whole process is fundamentally flawed. It is generally accepted that exams are not a good method of assessment so why the fuss? Cheating is wrong, but in life everyone cheats if they can get away with it. Perhaps, rather than tinker with the shortcomings of the exam process the whole process of assessment should be overhauled........

Us arts practitioners know this already but it is great that we can advocate the arts through videos such as this....

A large part of arts administration is of course knowing the market of the industry you are in. Having started life modelling over 40 years ago yours truly has kept up to date with trends and opportunities connected with both life modelling and life drawing. So far I have managed 3 separate projects, all looking at different aspects of life modelling. And of course just over a month ago was our first full public performance of "The Sanctuary", where we put a life class on a theatre stage. Which has all contributed to a new (ish) project called the Contemporary Life Modelling Project, which has it's own Facebook page with that title. Please feel free to peruse and like it....... ... Great to see an all-party group of M.P.'s agree with most of the rest of the enlightened world that creative subjects in education are a necessity. Hopefully this will eventually filter through to the curriculum / EBacc..... ... See MoreSee Less
